Tuesday, on a call I had with some of my Coaching Clients, my CEO Jenn Starkey shared…

The 4 Main Reasons We Create Systems In Our Businesses

1) To Make Money

This one is pretty obvious. Without profit, we don’t get to stay in business.

Examples of systems in this category may be adding new services to offer to our clients, marketing systems to gain more referrals, ways to systematically expand our geographical service areas, properly training an office person to answer your phones, or adding an online scheduling system.

All of these are examples of systems

2) To Keep Money

We can bring in all of the money in the world, but if an equal amount or more is walking right back out the door, then we won’t be happy for long.

Examples of systems in this category may include a process to deal with “Unhappy Campers”, admin & accounting systems to manage expenses, or service systems to keep clients and customers happy and excited to work with you.

3) To Keep Sanity

If you are anything like me, there have probably been days where you’ve found yourself caught up in the daily whirlwind, spending all of your focus away from growing your business, and instead being forced to put out fire after fire that seems to inconveniently pop-up and demand your attention.

Systems to help keep your sanity may include a personal 2-week calendar system that includes time blocks for Focus Time, a system for hiring and training new inspectors, marketing people, or office staff, a weekly date night with your spouse or weekly scheduled family day, or service systems and hardware that allow you to deliver reports on-site (so you aren’t up until midnight each day writing out your reports).

4) We Want To

And some systems we put into simply because we want to. Systems in this category are all about living your life the way you want to, with the freedom you want.

For instance, I’m now able to spend half a day every week with my dad. I’m able to travel to seminars that I want to attend, or go on the vacations I want. That’s because of decades of me figuring out and putting the right systems into place in my businesses so that I can enjoy that type of freedom, but anyone can accomplish this with the right systems.

So let me ask you… in which of the above 4 categories do you most need to build your next system?
